Agnes Laverne Whittaker's Obituary
Agnes Laverne Whittaker, 88, of Jacksonville was called home by our Lord and Savior Sunday, February 27, 2022. She was born September 6, 1933 in Biscoe, Arkansas to the late William Steve and Ellen Paralee Petty. In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her sisters, Laverne Petty, Edna Mae Petty, Adele Petty and Bessie Petty Porter; as well as brothers, Thomas A. Petty, Steve Hayes Petty, and William Petty.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Michael C. Whittaker of Jacksonville, James A. (Donna) Whittaker of Maumelle, and Randall D Whittaker of Georgia; sister, Dean Petty Buck of Hot Springs Village; brother, W.C. Petty of California; grandchildren, Erik Whittaker, Jonathan A. Whittaker, Justin A. Whittaker, and Joanna A. Whittaker; great-granddaughter Lilly A. Whittaker; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends as well as her favorite companion, her dog Little Bit.
The joys of her life were her children, grandchildren, great granddaughter and of course, her dog. She was the most caring and devoted mother raising her children as a single mom. After retiring from many years at Philips Westinghouse Electric, she liked to stay busy and spent her remaining years working part time jobs. She loved to travel and took several trips with her sister, Dean Petty Buck.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Donations in Agnes' honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (
