Archie Verdane Green, age 88, of Jacksonville passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020.  He was born September 15, 1932 in Ellery, Illinois to the late Clarence Franklin and Katie Green.  Archie was a United States Air Force Veteran and proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam War and retired as a MSgt in 1973. He was quiet; however, when Archie spoke, everyone listened. He was the type to earn your respect, not demand it. He was a workhorse that wouldn't stop moving until the job was done. Archie was very active in his community and enjoyed volunteering with the Jacksonville Care Channel food pantry. He was also a longtime member and Elder of the Christian Church of Jacksonville where he taught Sunday School, performed maintenance on the buildings and did anything else the church needed. Archie was an incredibly kind soul that loved his family more than anything in the world and will be truly missed.

In addition to his parents, Archie will be welcomed into Heaven by his siblings, Max Dwain, Ted Ray, Deletis William, John Franklin Green, Elsie May Green Johnson and Edith Green Lamar.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Betty Lois Green; daughters, Debra "Denise" Woods, Diane Lynn (Guy) Ashenberger, and Donna (Chris) Grimes; grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Vaughan, Kevin (Amanda) Woods, Cyndi (Jacob) Rodgers, Philip (Lacey) Ashenberger, Sonya Pawloski, and Amber Pawloski; 6 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; and brothers, Jack and Bob Green.

Funeral services are 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Kevin Leffingwell and Brother Steve Summers officiating.  Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.  Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.  Memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Show-Me Christian Youth Home (P.O. Box #6, La Monte, MO 65337).
