Barbara Frances (Anthony) Flippen, 77, of Jacksonville passed away May 12, 2023. She was born August 30, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Raymond and Alyce (Shivincki) Anthony. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her twin brother, Douglas in 2008; and older brother, Dennis, in 2013. She is survived by friends and family in Ohio.

Barbara graduated High School in 1962 at the age of sixteen. After high school, Barbara earned several degrees from Kent State, Oklahoma University, and Park College. She taught school in Cleveland, Ohio before joining the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, she was selected to be the first female Commander of an all-female squadron at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita, Texas. She met her husband while at Shepard AFB and they were married in 1973. They then moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1984. Wayne passed away in 1993.

Barbara was a Community College of the Air Force counselor, Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) site director, Pikes Peak Community Center director, Park University Campus Center director, and an Academic director and Adjunct Faculty member. She was also an Adjunct Faculty member at Pikes Peak Community College and Webster University. In her spare time, Barbara was an avid reader, and loved to cross-stitch and color. She loved watching Judge Judy, Jeopardy and "The Incredible Dr.Pol". She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, daughter, and friend to many.
