Blanche A. (Paxton) Arthur, 79, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, formerly of Jacksonville, Arkansas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 31, 2021. Blanche was born August 6, 1942, in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the late Eldon James "Jim" Paxton and Ida Myrtle Lincomfelt Paxton.  In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Tommy F. Arthur, on September 3, 2013.  She was also preceded by her sisters, Joyce Henderson and Margie Coker; brother, Andrew James "Dood" Paxton; five brothers-in-law, Ed Davidson, Jim Ward, Travis Henderson, Robbie Fread and Ray Coker.

Blanche is survived by her children, Ellen F (Michael) Archambault of Holliston, Massachusetts and Jo (Mark) Downs of O'Fallon, Illinois; siblings, Katherine Davidson, Betty Ward, Norma Jean (Jerry) Childers, Brenda Kay Fread, Bob (Susan) Paxton and Bill (Tina) Paxton; grandchildren Jacob (Casey) Archambault, Jennifer (Jason) Goncalves, Holly Thieleman and Jordan Thieleman; four great grandchildren, Nora and Lucas Goncalves and Emmy and Baby Girl Archambault, arriving December 2021; and many nieces and nephews.

Blanche was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Throughout her husband's military career, she volunteered in various capacities such as NCO Wives Club, Girl Scouts, Room Mother, as well as hosting unaccompanied military members throughout the holidays.  Aside from her volunteering, she was also a talented seamstress, floral designer, jewelry maker, baker, and cook.

After the passing of her husband, Blanche became involved with the Disabled American Veterans. She was a staunch supporter and advocate for the Veterans and their families. From volunteering in the office to assisting veterans obtaining their benefits, many came to rely on Blanche in various capacities. She was also involved with various monthly events and was frequently called upon to be by the side of veterans and their loved ones during their time of need. She did all these things with care and compassion and without expecting anything in return. This speaks to her character, selflessness, and dedication to her country.

For those who truly knew Blanche, there was nothing more important to her than our veterans and unconditional love of her family. Nothing gave her more pleasure than being of service to others and gatherings of her family and friends. Throughout their lives, Blanche and her husband could often be found hosting musicals and gatherings with their friends.

In remembrance of Blanche, do a kind deed for your fellow man without expectation in return. Remember we are all human with imperfections while striving to be better today than you were yesterday… but not as quite as good as you will be tomorrow.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
