Obituary

Buford Ray Wilson, 77, of North Little Rock passed away December 24, 2023. He was born December 15, 1946 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Ray and Pauline (Gilbert) Wilson. In addition to his parents, Buford was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of forty-nine years, Mickie Lynn Wilson; son, Mark Wilson; sisters, Mary Cooper and Thelma Pratt; and brother-in-law, John Pratt.

Buford had a heart of gold that will be missed by all. He led by example, had strong convictions and always kept his word – because of this, many people he met throughout his life looked up to him as a mentor. He always welcomed anyone in need of food or shelter into his home and made sure they were well taken care of. Even with all he gave, he never expected anything in return for his good deeds. He was loved by everyone lucky enough to have known him and will continue to be a legend in the Wilson family.

In Buford's younger years, while living in California, he worked in the oil fields for the Atlantic Richfield Company, then as a pit crew member and racecar driver at the Lions Drag Strip. Working at the racetrack started his endless love for automobiles. He was a quick study and learned everything he could about them. You could ask Buford about any make, model, or year and he'd be able to pour out any and all the information you'd need. His passion for cars led him to own and operate Buford Auto Sales before retirement. His other passion, above all else, was being surrounded by family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish the memories of Buford include his son, Tim Wilson; siblings, Diane (John) Atkinson, Junior (Delona) Wilson, Brenda (Kevin) Babcock, and Shirley Youngblood; grandchildren, Christopher (Kandice), Amanda, Dylan, Zack, and Mickie Raylynn Wilson; great-grandchildren, Dannie Lynn, Gracie, Haley, Brianna, Ryker, Christopher Jr., and Olivia Wilson; as well as several extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. January 20, 2024 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Memorial Gathering will be one hour prior at the funeral home.
