Obituary

Carl Truman Peters, 90, of Jacksonville, Arkansas went to be with his beloved Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him as husband, father and father-in-law, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  Carl was born in Jacksonville on August 12, 1931, to Jesse Lee and Dollie Lee (Driskill) Peters of Jacksonville. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his two sons, Jeffery Peters and Eric Peters.

Shortly after graduating from Jacksonville High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. Following his armed service, he earned both his BS and MS in civil and agricultural engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. In 2009, he was inducted into the Academy of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, University of Arkansas. His professional career spanned more than five decades during which he worked as a project and supervisory engineer, and as State Conservation Engineer for the Soil Conservation Service (USDA) before retiring from federal government service. He then worked for the Arkansas Department of Health as an engineer until he retired at age 80.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Patty Joyce (Adams) Peters of Jacksonville; sister, Jean Conley of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sons, Greg (Teresa) Peters of Sherwood and Kurt (Angie) Peters of Benton; daughter, Lisa (Richard) Weaver of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Jessica Domers, Molly Peters-Stanley, Katherine (Tommy) Gheen, Nick (Heather) Peters, Lindsey (Andrew) Peters, Erin Peters, and Reagan Weaver; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Carl was a Gideon, and a faithful member and deacon of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church in Sherwood. It is there that those who knew and loved him are invited to celebrate both his well-lived life and his glorious homegoing. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church (9008 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Arkansas) with Pastor Keith Brickell officiating. Interment will follow 1:00 p.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park, in North Little Rock. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
