Clifford Forrest McPherson, of Cabot, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. He was born March 10, 1935 in Bayou Meto, Arkansas to the late Walter and Ada McPherson. He was the youngest of 9 children. In addition to his parents, Clifford is preceded in death by his siblings Lilburn (Ruby), Fred (Opel), Sybil (Lewis), Major (Louise) (Carol), Elsie, Izora, Floyd, and Odell; as well as grandson, Rusty Lane McPherson.
Clifford married Norma Jean Ledford on August 26, 1955 and they had 3 children, David, Wayne, and Mark McPherson. Clifford was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was self-motivated, a leader, and excelled at everything he did. He joined the National Guard in 1953 and served for 24 years, Co B 739 Ordnance BN from 1953 to 1965, and 212th Signal BN from 1973 to 1985. During his military service, Clifford started the first Junior NCO Course for his Battalion and numerous military decorations were awarded over his career. He and Jean started and ran their own business, Quality Awards from 1982 to 1995. He joined Sylvan Hills Methodist Church in the early 1950's. He served in the Methodist Men's organization, as Trustee, and voted Man of the Year in 2003.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean; sons, David (Jennifer), Wayne (Mona) and Mark (Kim); 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to Arkansas State Veteran's Home #8 in North Little Rock for the loving and gentle care of Clifford during his last months. As well as a thank you for all support and prayers they have received. They ask that if anyone wishes to make memorial donations in Clifford's name, to make them to Sylvan Hills Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2022 at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church in Sherwood. Visitation will be the evening prior, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Clifford will be laid to rest with military honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
