Dean Franklin Dennis of Sherwood passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born to A.W. Dennis and Hazel Warren on June 10, 1940.
He is survived by his wife, Marlena, daughter, Angie (Wade) Robertson and grandchildren: Tyson Weaver (Angela), Will Bass (Vonnie), Tanner Dennis (Gabriela), Bryan Dennis (Katie), Ryan Robertson, Grace Anne Robertson, McConnell Robertson, and Great grandchildren: Olivia McKee (Sam), Tatiana Grace Dennis and JayLynn, Jordyn, Kaden, and Landon Weaver. He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Dennis, and daughter, Dena Bass.
Dean served two tours of duty in Vietnam, serving in the Navy and the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force Reserves after many years of service. He graduated from Draughon School of Business in LR and owned and operated Dennis Trucking Company for many years before retiring. He was a charter member of Southbend Baptist Church and a founding member of the Southbend Fire Department.
Throughout the years Dean was either focused on work or sharing a laugh, often telling jokes, or captivating his audience with stories from the past. He also was an avid reader and a passionate historian. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his kindness and great sense of humor. He genuinely loved everyone, always making sure to express his appreciation and affection every day. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Moore's Funeral Home in Jacksonville, AR
