Obituary

Dennald Carrel "D.C." Stroud, 69, of Jacksonville, passed away May 2, 2023 from a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 5, 1953 in Searcy, Arkansas to Geneva (Bowman) and the late D.D. Stroud.

D.C. was a highway designer for thirty-five years, retiring from the Arkansas Highway Department in 2005. After retirement, he served the Jacksonville Community as a local repairman. In his spare time, D.C. enjoyed hunting deer and was a dedicated member of the Paul Clements Hunting Camp. More importantly, D.C. loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved God and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He was a friend to all who were lucky enough to have known him and will be missed for his willingness to help others.

Those left to cherish the memories of D.C. include his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Chris Stroud; his mother, Geneva Stroud; his children, Scott Stroud and Lauren (Justin) Martin; grandchildren, Piper and Beckham Stroud, and Riley and Aubrey Martin; sisters, Becky Davis, Betty Higgs, and Janet Whisenant; mother-in-law, Virginia Frizzell; sister-in-laws, Karen Abrahamson and Debra (David) Shumate; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home. D.C. will be laid to rest following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
