Erma Ruth Peiffer, 98, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away at home Thursday evening, December 8, 2022. Erma was born and grew up in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to the late Harry C. and Hattie C. (Kane) Crosland. In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Kenneth C. Peiffer; and daughter, Sandra L. Peiffer.

Erma married the love of her life, Ken, March 15, 1947. She was a proud Air Force wife, mother and homemaker. After Air Force life took them to such places as Germany, Washington, Montana and Nebraska, they decided to go south to warmer Arkansas for retirement, and moved to Jacksonville in February 1973.

Erma loved having their own home after the many years in base housing and enjoyed gardening and making the yard and patio beautiful. She enjoyed sewing clothes, old movies and musicals, and reading. Her favorite books at 98 were daily devotionals; she was steadfast in her faith and love of the Lord.

Erma is survived by children Sharon (James) Pennington, David (Janet) Peiffer, and Susan Chidester; granddaughter, Jennifer Peiffer; sister, Edna Uranko; brother, Leonard Crosland; and several nephews and other relatives.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Erma's longtime devoted caregiver Tonya and her husband Don, and her dedicated team of care-angels Beverly, Jennifer and Ruth.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2022. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., both at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Erma will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations in Erma's name to the charity of your choice.
