Around 2:45am on May 1, 2024, this world grew dimmer as George Sterling Platt, age 60, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, departed from this world.  We lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and co-adventurer.  He was born April 20, 1964, in Kittery, Maine to Joseph and Priscilla Platt  .  It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew him.

Family was the cornerstone of George's existence, and he poured boundless love and affection into the lives of his loved ones. As a devoted husband, he cherished his wife, Deborah, with tenderness and adoration, standing by her side through every triumph and tribulation. As a father and grandfather, he was a beacon of guidance and support, imparting wisdom and instilling values that will continue to resonate through generations.

George had an innate ability to forge deep and meaningful connections with those around him. His genuine concern for others, ability to handle any situation with composure, and unique blend of pragmatism and humor made him a natural leader and drew others to him. He was a steadfast friend, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer a comforting embrace to those in need, and possibly even one of his sheep jokes.

George joined the United States Air Force in 1983 and served in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield 1990 - 1992. Throughout his military service, George exemplified professionalism and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors alike. In his professional endeavors, George excelled not only in his achievements but also in his commitment to serving others. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those he encountered.

George is preceded in death by his mother, Priscilla (Brown) Platt, his father, Joseph E. Platt, and his sister Amanda S. Platt.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deborah (Lievsay) Platt; their son George W. Platt and his wife Tawnya Platt; two grandchildren, Oliver and Allison Platt; his grand-niece and ward, Amanda R. McGonigal (whom he thought of as a granddaughter); his brother Joseph A. Platt and wife Tammy Platt; his niece Priscilla A. McGonigal; extended family members and many good friends.

We hope you all know how much he loved you and loved all the adventures we shared together over the years, no matter their nature (role-playing games, life, or professional).  He was honored to have so many friends on the journey with him and was proud of how we banded together to overcome all adversity.

George's kindness, generosity, and strength of character will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched, forever cherished in our hearts and memories.
