Gladys Rose O'Brien, 89, of Jacksonville, passed away July 20, 2021. She was born November 28, 1931 to the late Pedro and Conception Avilla in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Michael O'Brien; son, Daniel O'Brien and several beloved siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James (Alicia) O'Brien, Joan O'Brien and Pat O'Brien; grandchildren, Chris (Yasaman) O'Brien, Kevin O'Brien, Rose O'Brien, Kerry Ann (John) Partin and Patrick O'Brien and three great-grandchildren.

Gladys was an operating room nurse in Sioux City, Iowa before moving to Jacksonville in 1972 to start the McDonald's with her husband. She was fun, loved to laugh, have a beer and see her grandchildren. In later years, she enjoyed her time at the Jacksonville Senior Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Gladys will be laid to rest immediately following the service on Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.
