Gordon Ray Duvall 96, of Jacksonville passed away October 12, 2023. He was born November 18, 1926 to the late Elvin Brown and Lavada Violet (Gregory) Duvall in Ratliff, Mississippi. In addition to his parents, Mr. Duvall was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Adele Duvall in 2007; brothers, Joe Burgess Duvall, Johnny Woodson Duvall, and Daniel O'Neal Duvall.
Mr. Duvall retired from the United States Air Force as a Tech Sergeant after twenty-two years of service as an Avionics Technician, then later retired from Remington Arms after fifteen years there. After two retirements, he enjoyed deer hunting, which included sitting around the campfire with friends and family. He also enjoyed working on small engines and liked calling himself "a shade tree mechanic". He was always smiling and those who knew him well can attest to the fact that he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Duvall; son, Carl Duvall and wife Diane; daughter, Yolande Bell and husband Larry; step-daughter, Judy McDivitt and husband Alan; sisters, Jean Fogarty and Katherine Peacock; grandchildren, Bryan Bell, Lindsey Bell, and Casey Duvall; step-grandchildren, Cody, Noah and Jacob Sinkey; three great-grandchildren, Crimson Duvall, Ardyn Hughes and Baxter Hughes; two step great-grandchildren, Asher and Zane Sinkey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Alberson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Mr. Duvall will be laid to rest following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Crestview Senior Living in Cabot, AR for the wonderful, kind & loving care they gave to Gordon during his stay there, but most especially during his final days.
