Grady "Man" William Russell Jr., 75, of Lonoke passed away on August 25, 2021. He was born November 27, 1945 to the late Lela Louise (Leggett) and Grady W. Russell Sr. in Helena, Arkansas. In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Lee Russell; grandson, Jonathan Cross; and bonus son, Eddie Wayne Cross.
Grady ("Man" as he was affectionately called by family & friends) was a Jack of all Trades. He did everything from working on cars at Johnson's Gulf station in Helena, to working the shipping/receiving department and quickly became a truck driver for the Bobbie Brooks factory in West Helena. He also drove the mail truck route from Helena to pick up out-going mail from the eastern Arkansas post offices and delivering it to the Mail Facility in Memphis, and worked for (I & R) Insulation & Refractories Services, Inc., of Memphis, insulating tanks at various chemical plants in the mid-South. He was also an OTR driver for several businesses in the central Arkansas area, and at his retirement, was a mechanic for Regal Ware in Jacksonville
Those left to cherish Grady's memory include his wife, Stella May Russell; children, Dana (James) Duncan, Grady William Russell III, Tammy Darlene Hays, Stevie Cross, Danny Lynn Cross, and Dennis Cross; siblings, Vivian Hall and Terry Lee Russell; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior, 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Grady will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.
