Granville Lee Denton, 92, of Jacksonville passed away August 28, 2023. He was born July 10, 1931 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Ordery and Ollie May Denton. In addition to his parents, Granville was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Ann Godson, Vickie Pitts, and Tunney, Kenneth, and Jerry Denton.

Granville, also known to most as "Lee" was a Godly Christian family man. He was an elder at Maddox Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville and loved to spread the Lord's message as a Sunday school teacher and a jail minister. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, with tours in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired after twenty-four years as a 100% disabled veteran. In his spare time, Granville enjoyed helping anyone who needed it, delivering vegetables to one of his favorite charities, Fish Net Missions, and studying the Bible.

Those left to cherish the memories of Lee include his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Martha Denton; sons, Terry (Louise), Ordery, and David (Freda) Denton; grandchildren, Crystal (Tim), Suzane (Jason), Jonathan (Rebecca), Addison, Alexandria "Leelee", Austin, Amy, and Stacey (Steven); great-grandchildren, Eisley, Bear, Raelynn, and Elanna; and brothers, Charles "Chuck/C.L." and J.D. (Toni) Denton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be the evening prior, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the funeral home. Granville will be laid to rest with full military honors following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
