Howard Vance Toney Sr., 84, passed away November 28, 2020. He was born January 5, 1936 to the late Vernon and Ruby Toney. His wife of 60 years, Carolyn Sue Toney, 77, of Jacksonville passed away November 26, 2020. Carolyn was born December 12, 1942 to the late Thomas and Nora Gordon. Howard and Carolyn were married August 26, 1960. They were blessed with 3 sons, Hal, Eddie and Terry and raised them in Jacksonville.
Howard spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, then worked at VerTac and Hercules before retiring. Howard spent many years coaching all of his boys in baseball. He spent his retired days working with wood and building things. During his younger years, he loved taking his boys hunting.
Carolyn worked at Jacksonville High School and wore many hats. She started working in the library, switched to being the secretary to the counselor's office and then ended up working in the office as the principal's secretary. She enjoyed cheering on the Razorbacks in her spare time and watching any and all sports. She loved the Lord and attended McArthur Assembly of God in Jacksonville.
In addition to their parents, Howard and Carolyn were preceded in death by their son, Terrell Lee Toney.
Those left to cherish their memories include their children, Howard (Michele Lewis) Toney Jr. and Edward Toney; daughter-in-law, Dena Toney; their grandchildren, Sarah Toney, Patrick (Ashley Hill) Toney, Jarod Toney, Tyler Toney, Trent Toney, Jacob Toney, Carsen Manor, Leighton Hill and one great-grandchild, Maggie Brooks Toney.
A combined graveside service for this lovely couple will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2020 at Bayou Meto Cemetery in Jacksonville, Arkansas. The family asks that donations in memory of Howard and Carolyn be made to the Jacksonville Animal Shelter (501) 982-2916 . Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, (501) 982-2136.
