James Henry Austin Jr., 84, of Jacksonville, passed away on April 17, 2023. He was born May 1, 1938 in Dewitt, Arkansas to parents Henry and Hettie Austin. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sisters, Katie, Shirley, Birdie, and Mattie; brothers, Kirby and Alvin; father-in-law, JL Hall; mother-in-law, Ruby Hall; granddaughter, Tiffany Austin; grandson, Christopher Austin; and great-granddaughter, Alyssa Oswald.

James was the youngest of 8 children. He graduated from the Dewitt High School in 1957. On July 3 of 1957 he married Faye Hall. He then later enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served for 20 years before retiring in 1978 as a Senior Master Sergeant.

James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye Austin of Jacksonville; daughter, Terri (Al) McBride of Jacksonville; son, James (Rusty) Austin of North Little Rock; sister, Miranda Shrum of Stuttgart; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends
