James L. Hartwig Jr., 75, of Jacksonville passed away October 25, 2022. He was born Wednesday, July 2, 1947 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to the late James Lawrence Hartwig Sr. and Hazel Mae (Tracy) Ketchum. In addition to his parents, Jim was welcomed into Heaven by his brothers, David Hartwig and Kevin Ketchum.  Jim served his country in Vietnam and spent four years in the Army followed by twenty-one years in the Air Force before retiring in 1990. He also loved to fish and was an avid computer gamer. Jim was an amazing husband, father, son, "Bumpa", uncle, and friend that will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Jim's memory include his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Darlene Roberts Hartwig; children, James Hartwig III, Jamie (Paul) Julbes, Lori (Les) Chalfant, and Jessica (Rob) Barrett; sisters, Kathy Puma and Kelly Green; sister-in-law, Charlene Zerilli, and her children, Christine McCarary, Robert, Michael (Robin) and James Dye; thirteen grandchildren, Alexis Hartwig, James Hartwig IV, David Julbes, Courtney (Nelly) Julbes, John (Brandy) Julbes, Jordan (Sam) Hartwig, Jillian Chalfant, Carson Fairchild, Bryanna (Nick) Barth, Bethany Barrett, Chloe Barrett, Chelsea Barrett, Blake Barrett; and eleven great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Nevaeh, Alaina, Aaliyah, Kairyn, Sloane, Tobias, Kingston, Tristin, Braeleigh, and Avi; and several extended family members.

A memorial service for Jim will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
