During his military career, especially while in Vietnam, James received several awards and medals including a Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. As a true American Hero, James embodied the meaning of the slogan he kept close to his heart: "The Few. The Proud. The Marines".
