James "Carl" Nowlin, 74, of Mabelvale, Arkansas passed away May 30, 2025. He was born November 21, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late James William and Nell Rose (Mosley) Nowlin.

On his 18th birthday, he married the love of his life, Mary, a bond that lasted a lifetime until her passing in 2022. He attended Central High School, and went on to become a journeyman plumber, a trade he dedicated his life to with skill and integrity.

Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things, weekends spent camping at DeGray Lake from May through October, sometimes spending entire weeks there. Hunting trips that connected him to the land, and family gatherings where he was always the first to lend a hand. His generosity knew no bounds, he helped family in every way he could, never expecting anything in return.

He will be remembered not only for his hard work and dedication, but for the love he gave, the life he shared, and the countless memories made under the open sky.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Nowlin; son, Michael Nowlin; and siblings, Mary Looney, Jimmy Nowlin, and Gary Nowlin.

He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Jeanie) Nowlin; children, Carla (Stephen) Hughes and Billy (Whitney) Nowlin; grandchildren, Brenden McGilvary, Olivia McGilvary, Lindsey (Ron) Sanders, Stephen (Bennie) Hughes, Jr., Sarah Nowlin, Gracie (Tyler) Luker, and Jacob Bruce; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a funeral service at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
