James Millard Plemmons, age 86, a resident of Jacksonville, since returning to Little Rock Air Force Base in 1978 to retire in 1979.  He was born July 2, 1933 in Culman, Alabama and went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2020 after passing away from complications related to kidney failure.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mamie Plemmons.  Also preceded in death by siblings, George, Evelyn, Leroy, and Linda Gale.

He is survived by Grace Plemmons, wife of 64 ½ years; children, Virginia (Wayne) of Alexander, AR., James Millard, Jr. (Pamela – deceased) of Jacksonville, AR., Paul (Betty) of Sherwood, AR., and Lois (Jonathan) of Little Rock, AR.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Also survived by sisters, Louise of Jacksonville, FL., Lucille of Modena, NY., and Evie Jean of Tifton, Georgia.

James was a retired military veteran of 26 years who served as an Avionics Technician in the U.S. Air Force (E-8/SMSgt) and Vietnam War; he was always respected and counted on for his vast knowledge of electronics and leadership skills, but, if he ever had to ask you to do something more than "twiced", you were in trouble.  After his military retirement, he taught an electronics course at Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock, AR. For several years before moving on to Capital Business Machines (aka, City Business Machines) in Little Rock, AR. As a copier technician, up until he turned 80 years of age, when his health started to fail.  He was and will always be fondly remembered for his gift of telling endless stories of his adventures while in the U.S. Air Force, for his love and passion for gardening and for being a huge Arkansas Razorbacks fan.  He was a past member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot, AR. And a member of the Jacinto Masonic Lodge #216 in Jacksonville, AR.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Brother Charles Hawkins officiating.  Interment will be on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville, AR., with military honors rendered.  Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials/gifts may be made to Arkansas Hospice Foundation, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR. 72116, or ArkansasHospice.org.  Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.  (501) 982-2136.
