Obituary

James Linville Turnage, 82, of Cabot passed away April 29, 2022. Known to most as "Slim", he was born on August 26, 1939 to A.D. Turnage and Mary Kathryn Turnage (Bacon) of Des Arc, Arkansas.  In addition to his parents, Linville was preceded in death by his wife Lee Joyce (Hooker) Turnage; sister, Kathleen Richards; and brothers, Ralph Turnage and Arthur "Sonny" Turnage.

Linville graduated from Griffithville High School in 1957.  In August of 1958, he married Lee Joyce Hooker and they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. He spent most of his working years at Mitchell Machinery in North Little Rock until his retirement. He devoted his life to taking care of his family, especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.  In 1978, Linville and Lee Joyce moved to Cabot, Arkansas where they enjoyed their remaining time together. He took wonderful care of his wife in the last years of her life and most recently spent hours looking at old home movies of his grandchildren when they were young. Linville enjoyed seeing Lee Joyce in those movies and made a comment that he wished she was in more of them.  He is now with her rejoicing as they have both left their sick bodies behind and joined their Lord and Savior.

Linville is survived by his daughters, Vivian Stanley and her husband, Billy, and Jamie Carter and her husband, Chuck; sons, James Arthur Turnage and John Wesley Turnage, all of Cabot; grandchildren James Collins of Cabot, Christen and her husband, Michael Blythe of Cabot, John Wesley Turnage, Jr. of Florida, Michelle Turnage of Texas, Jasmine Turnage of Cabot, and James Arthur Turnage, Jr. of Cabot; great grandchildren, Emily Collins of Cabot, Candice Turnage of Texas, John Michael Turnage of Texas, Garrett Blythe of Cabot, Grayson Beal of Cabot, Peyton Blythe of Cabot, and Ayden Blythe of Cabot; sister, Marilyn Highfill of Griffithville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
