Obituary

Janis Marie Moore, 67, of Cabot passed from this life on July 10, 2024. She was born November 28, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Aubrey and Madine (Bradley) Mitchell. Jan will always be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit and the absence of a filter. She shot from the hip, but you always knew where you stood. Throughout her life, Jan worked in many different positions including as a police officer, LPN, RN and EMT, but found her greatest rewards in being a wife and mother. She was an active member and volunteer at First Assembly of God in North Little Rock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sturdivant; son, John Derrick Sturdivant; brother, Gary Mitchell; and bonus father, Richard "Dick" Dworshak.

Jan was a free spirit with long dark hair and brown eyes. She obtained an LPN degree from Baptist School of Nursing, and a BSN in New York, where she went on to become a GI nurse. Before becoming a nurse, Jan worked as a police officer and EMT, where she met her late husband, Frank. In addition to her professional accolades, she was a wonderful mother. Known as the "cool mom" to her children's group of friends, she raised three children, Brad, Derrick, and Sarah.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sarah (Jonathan) Baxter, Brady (Misty Mills) Sturdivant; brothers, Rick and Ronnie Dworshak; bonus son, Mike Sturdivant; special cousin, Sandra Kay Cockerham; niece, Kaylea Dworshak; and great nephew, Maddox Dworshak along with a host of extended family and many friends.

Whether you remember Janis on her skates when she worked at Sonic, were surprised to see her at your G.I. appointment, knew her from the Jacksonville Police Department or as an EMT, she was always there and helpful. She will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in the main chapel of First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock.
