Obituary

Jerald (Jerry) Davis, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, passed away on January 26, 2026. He was born on November 23, 1953, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Lena Sims Davis and Henry J. Davis.

As a child growing up in Jacksonville, some of the things he liked doing were playing baseball with his brothers in the back yard and on Little League teams, and riding their bikes through the neighborhood. He attended schools there, finishing his education during his tour of duty in the U.S. Army.

As an adult, he developed talent as a carpenter, using his skills to make forms and doing concrete work at Arkansas PreCast, working in the cabinet shop at St. Vincent Infirmary, and becoming the go to and fix it man at Embassy Suites and Doubletree Hotel.

Outside of work, he got into rodeo activities, advancing his skills and winning trophies through calf roping. He enjoyed fishing with his brother, Hank at the Little Red River in Heber Springs. In retirement, he developed an interest in golf, and could be found at the local golf course, playing golf at least once a week with his golfing friends. He enjoyed playing with and entertaining his granddaughters in his home, and cooking on the grill for family get togethers. Jerry enjoyed history, and could call up famous people and events from the past, and be ready to discuss them with those who were interested.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Forest and Linnie Sims, and his brother, Henry (Hank) Davis. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his brother, Jack Jones, close cousin, Larry Smith, stepdaughters, Carla Lewis and Jessie Brown, grandchildren Lakiya Johnson, Laveah Johnson, and Lindsey Marie Shahan.
