JoAnn Cummings Hicks, precious mother and grandmother, passed from this life into eternity with the Lord on September 27, 2024. She was born on April 6, 1931, as the oldest of four children to Esker Cummings and May Bell Smith Cummings.

JoAnn was a loving mother who was devoted to providing and caring for her family. "Bamaw" loved to shop sales catalogs and buy cards and gifts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and always offered food to those who visited her. She was a great example of sacrificial love and service, never wanting anyone to have a need.

She was a faithful Christian who trusted in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Now she is enjoying eternal life in the presence of God and the rewards He gives those who serve Him.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Curtis "Buddy" Cummings, Virginia Huffman, and Billy Cummings; husband Charles S. Hicks III; sons Terry Pemberton Hicks and Steven Charles Hicks; and great grandson Isaiah Shepard. She is survived by her sons Gary Hicks of Jacksonville, AR; Stan Hicks and Chris (and Cheryl) Hicks of Senath, MO; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several other relatives.

A service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, at 1:00 pm at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home located at 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, AR 72076, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Rev. Tom Hart will officiate. The visitation will be held at 11:00 am and continue until the service. Serving as Pallbearers are Gary Hicks, Stan Hicks, Chris Hicks, Zack Warren, Lucas Smith and Joshua Hicks.
