John Thomas “J.T.” Box, Sr., age 78, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away August 28, 2026. He was born on September 2, 1947 in Jacksonville, Arkansas to the late Harvey and Cordie Box.
He loved being outdoors and could often be found doing what he enjoyed most—hunting, riding his trike, or taking his Slingshot out for a little adventure. He was a proud member of the Brothers of the Third Wheel, where he found plenty of friendship and fellowship.
He had a heart for taking care of everyone around him. If someone needed something, he was usually already working on it before they could ask. And if you ever wondered why he was doing something, you probably heard his famous response, “it's 4 the kids ya know”. Somehow, that explanation seemed to work for just about anything.
He also enjoyed having a good “t time,” creating memories and sharing laughs with those around him. He was a proud Mason and member of Sylvan Hills Lodge #754. Above all, he will be remembered for his generous heart, his willingness to help others, and the many ways he brought joy and laughter to the people he loved.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Thomas Box, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Tim) Crow; grandchildren, Rachel and Brendon; special cousin, Ray Norman; and siblings, Dorothy (Bill) Holt, Charles Box, Martha Gilbert, Barbara “BJ” Cummings, and Alice Hamilton.
There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Following the service there will be a burial of cremated remains at Bethel Cemetery, Jacksonville, Arkansas.
