John Harrison Williams, 90, of Cabot, passed away September 18, 2020.  He was born July 3, 1930 to parents Leo Williams and Doretta (Paris) Williams in Keystone, Oklahoma. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years in Germany and Korea. After his Army service, he spent a short amount of time in New Jersey with his mother and younger siblings before enlisting in the Air Force, where he made it a career.  John was stationed in Panama in the 1950's, and later at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, where, by chance at a baseball game, he met his wife, Vilma, an Air Force nurse. The two went on to have five children and three more PCS moves taking them to Plattsburgh Air Force Base New York, Goose Bay Labrador, and finally, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. John and Vilma enjoyed 51 years of life together. In 1971 after 22 years of military service, John retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant.  He then spent nearly two decades working for the VA Hospital Little Rock as a cardio-vascular perfusionist before he retired in 1991. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville since 1971. John was preceded in death by his wife Vilma (Buckery); his parents; his brothers, Vernon Williams, Francis Williams, Leonard Williams and Donald Williams and his sisters, Marion Weber, Eva Ferlauto and Helen Wey.

John is survived by his sons, John (Karen) Williams of Jacksonville, Dr. Thomas (Lori) Williams of Russellville, Michael Williams of Cabot, Kevin (Melanie) Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his daughter, Karen (Neil) West of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; his brothers, Harold Williams of Kerkhoven, Minnesota, Lawrence Williams of North Bergen, New Jersey, and sisters, Louise Ruggerio of Pine Bush, New York and Ruth Cunningham of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joseph Humphreys, Ryan Williams, Emily West, Haley Williams, and Katherine Rose Williams, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A private memorial service will be on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. Jude's The Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville.

Interment will be at a later date at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery in McAdoo, Pennsylvania.
