Joy Leigh
Douglass Faucett
Sep 4, 1934 — Dec 21, 2024
Sherwood
Joy Leigh Douglass Faucett, age 90, of Sherwood, joined her Savior in Heaven Saturday, December 21, 2024, surrounded by her family. Joy was born September 4, 1934, in Swartz, Louisiana, to the late Trieber and Maxine (Bell) Douglass. In her early years they moved to Conway to be closer to family, before finally settling in Jacksonville where Joy attended and graduated from Jacksonville High School. It was during her time there that she met and fell in love with her future husband, Ernie Faucett. The Faucetts married in 1955 and moved to Sherwood in the late 1960's, where they joined Sherwood First Baptist Church and became actively involved in both their church and community.
For a period of time, Joy served as Court Clerk for the Sherwood Municipal Court. However, she found her true calling when she began working at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention in 1981. She described her job as one of ministry, and felt it was a call by the Lord. At her retirement in 1999, it was said of Joy that she was "a Christian ambassador" who was appropriately named and known for her grace.
Joy was a beautiful, kind, and elegant woman. She loved deeply, had a strong faith, and left an impression on everyone she met. She enjoyed hosting, decorating her home, reading, and spending time with friends. Although Joy wore many hats throughout her life, her favorite of all was being a wife, mother, and Nana. She will always be remembered as a kindhearted and giving person, who loved her family and friends, and lived the values of her Christian Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Ernie, and her sister, Mickie Rea.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pat Faucett (Clara) of North Little Rock, Dina Hubbard (Jim) of Marvell; grandchildren, Shelley Clements (Chad) of Sherwood, Brittany Henderson of Marvell, Cailey Faucett of North Little Rock; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Clements, Remi Clements, and Jackson Henderson. She also leaves a host of extended family and dear friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Sherwood, located at 701 Country Club Road, Sherwood, Arkansas, 72120. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A private entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
Memorials may be made in Joy's name to CARTI Cancer Center North Little Rock, 3400 Springhill Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72117.
