Judy Jayne Horton Pucik, 84, of Jacksonville, AR passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born December 17, 1940 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Francis A. Horton and the late Flora Jayne Everling. The Horton family relocated to San Antonio, Texas where Judy graduated in 1958 from Alamo Heights High School, attended Northwestern University on a pianist scholarship, and attended Draughon's Business School.

Judy worked as a finance secretary, bookkeeper, and business manager. Judy also worked for the U.S. Government in the Recruiting Office at Fort Sam Houston and in the Office of Military Personnel Records at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.

Judy married Robert "Bob" J. Pucik on June 13, 1968 in Vancouver, Washington.

Over the years, Judy lovingly devoted herself to the nurture and care of her three sons and youngest daughter. She volunteered for many years as a teachers' assistant, scout troop leader, class officer, and scorekeeper for little league teams as well as chaperoned countless class field trips.

Judy was an avid supporter of the military service of her husband in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines and at Little Rock Air Force Base, Judy wrote social and travel articles for the Officers' Wives Club Magazine and the base newspaper and served in various elected roles. She was a tour guide, assistant chairwoman, and coordinator of volunteers for the Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

Judy was an accomplished pianist and a talented vocalist. She performed with Little Rock Air Force Base musical groups, Skylarks and Spotlighters. Judy performed for numerous school programs, plays, Jacksonville Little Theater, and area beauty pageants. She also served as pianist for several area churches, and as member and secretary of the parish council at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville, AR.

In the late 1990's, Judy began a 17-year term of service as a Substitute Teacher for the Pulaski County School District. Judy loved the administration, faculty, staff, and especially the students she served. After substitute teaching, she continued her volunteer service with the Thrift Shop of Jacksonville.

Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years Retired Major Robert "Bob" J. Pucik of Jacksonville, AR, her sons, Rev. Don (Gail) Pucik of Covington, LA, and Derik Pucik of Sherwood, AR, and her daughter, Beth Pucik Rydzewski of Frisco, TX. Judy is preceded in death by her son Doug Pucik formerly of Jacksonville, AR. Judy will be remembered as a generous, loving grandmother and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at Moore's Funeral Home in Jacksonville, AR on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
