Laura Elizabeth Malat born on January 27th,1940 transitioned to be with her beloved Jesus on July 27th, 2024 at the age of 84. She was preceded in transition by her parents Frank G. Newsham and Alice Ceal Newsham, her elder sister Deanie Snyder, and her grandson Evan Malat.

Laura is survived by her younger sister Frankie Anderson, son Joseph Malat, daughter in law Cherie Malat, grandchildren Lexus Malat and Christina Malat, Christian Malat and Keely Malat, Chedi Hubay, and great granddaughter Nevaeh Malat and countless family friends. She viewed all of her close friends as family. She constantly referred to her family friends as her sons, daughters, and grandkids. For having only one child, she had a huge family. Laura, known to most as "G" or "GG", spent her life giving to her family, friends, church, job, and the community she tirelessly served. She always thought of others first, to the detriment of her own health. She will be missed by the many lives she touched and impacted. She genuinely always gave her all. "G" got her nickname when her grandson found a t-shirt from then rap group G Unit, which is what he jokingly called his grandmother, the Grandmother Unit or G-Unit and it stuck. From that point on she just became G-Unit or G. Then later when her beloved great granddaughter was born she became GG. Her proudest moments were giving to her family.
