Celebrating the life of Lenoria Dednam Watson

April 19, 1939 – July 17, 2026

With deep sorrow, abiding faith, and grateful hearts, the family of Lenoria Dednam Watson announces her passing on Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home in Jacksonville, Arkansas. She was 87 years old.

Lenoria was born on April 19, 1939, to the late Sidney Dednam and Lovolia "Bo" Dednam. From the beginning, her life was marked by strength, compassion, perseverance, and an unwavering faith in God.

Known affectionately to her classmates as "Vickie", Lenoria graduated from Pulaski County Training High School on May 22, 1958. The friendships she formed during those years remained especially meaningful to her. She continued to stay in contact with many of her classmates as they grew older, holding tightly to the bonds, memories, and laughter they shared.

On January 27, 1961, Lenoria married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Sylvester Watson. Their marriage spanned 65 years and stood as a beautiful testament to love, commitment, loyalty, and perseverance. Together, they created a home filled with family, faith, food, music, laughter, and countless treasured memories. To this union 5 children were born.

Lenoria was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ, located at 1212 Ray Road in Jacksonville, Arkansas. She gave her life to the Lord and was baptized in the name of Jesus at an early age. Her Christian faith was not simply something she spoke about. It was the foundation of the way she lived. She carried herself with grace, trusted God through every season, and showed His love through her service to others. Her faith gave her strength during life's most difficult moments and allowed her to remain a source of encouragement, comfort, and wisdom to those around her. She loved singing and songwriting, using music as another way to express her love for God and the joy that lived within her heart.

Lenoria devoted much of her professional life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked faithfully at Rebsamen Memorial Hospital and Rosecare Nursing Home Center in Jacksonville. Caring for others was more than a career for Lenoria. It was Part of her calling. She treated those in her care with dignity, patience, tenderness, and compassion. When her son, Paris Kirk Watson, was injured, Lenoria demonstrated the depth of a mother's love by dedicating herself to his care until his passing. Her strength during that season reflected the kind of woman she was: courageous, selfless, devoted, and willing to give everything she has for the people she loved.

Lenoria possessed an extraordinarily big heart. She loved good food, family gatherings, close friends, singing, celebrating, and making others feel welcome. Her home was a place where people could find a warm meal, a thoughtful gift, a listening ear, and unconditional love. Christmas held a particularly special place in her heart. She found great joy in giving gifts and making sure that everyone who came to her home felt remembered. No one who stopped by during Christmas left without receiving something. She opened her doors and her kitchen to the entire neighborhood, feeding anyone who came and spreading joy through her generosity.

Lenoria did not give because she had to, she gave because generosity was woven into the fabric of who she was. Her love had no boundaries, her table always had room, and her heart always seemed large enough to hold one more person. She was the center of her family's life, a source of strength during difficult times, and a steady presence through every celebration, challenge, and transition. Her family could depend on her prayers, her guidance, her honesty, and her unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, sacrifice, kindness, resilience, and service that will continue to live through every life she touched.

Lenoria was preceded in death by her beloved son, Paris Kirk Watson; her parents, Sidney and Levolia "Bo" Dednam; her five sisters, Altha Mae Veasley, Blanchie Pitts, Jeraldean Ford, Geneva Sanders, and Beatrice Sanders; her two brothers, Nathaniel Dednam and Herbert Dednam; and her granddaughter, Journee Orji.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her devoted husband of 65 years, Sylvester Watson; her children, Antonio Watson and his wife, Sherry, of Beebe, Arkansas, Craig Watson of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Moleta Hampton and her husband, Marcus, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Tinikie "Trenia" DeRicho, and her husband, Corey, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Her legacy will also live on through her grandchildren: Stephen Orji, Candise Coleman, Darrius DeRico, Jazmine DeRico, Marquese Hampton, Craig Watson Jr., Takiah Watson, Marqueze Hampton, and Lyric Watson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Rayshawn Brown, Logan Carpenter, Lennox Carpenter, Raine Bo Carpenter, Stormi Carpenter, McKenzie Orji, Eavan Orji, Jerran Orji, Daisean Orji, and Aaliyah Orji, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, classmates, neighbors, friends, and others whose lives were made brighter by her love.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ 1212 Ray Road Jacksonville. Visitation will be the night before at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home 1504 N JP Wright Loop Rd. Jacksonville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
