Leroy Lyle
Yanke
Mar 8, 1948 — Jan 15, 2025
Jacksonville
LeRoy Lyle Yanke, 76, was met by the Lord with a fishing pole in hand waiting to sink a line on Wednesday, January 15 2025.
Welcoming him fishing were, his parents, Mary and Herbert, along with brothers Richard, Arthur, Gilbert, Tom, Dean, Chuck, Darwin, Rex and sisters June, Phylis, and Carolyn. What a blast that must have been.
Lee could be found playing cards, eating toast, tormenting his grandkids, looking for a flashlight, or sitting outside doing a word-search. He was loved beyond measure and will be sorely missed, a stubborn ole mule that put many miles on his body.
Lee served in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1974. He was selfless and never wanted to make a big deal of serving his country; but he couldn't be prouder that his one and only son followed in his footsteps.
Although his body is no longer with us, we will remember his jokes, stories, and laughter as long as we live. I mean, there are few people more talkative than a proud grandparent.
We all better look out, hold that flashlight still, and remember dad, that's Pine Sol, not tea. Also, Opal never did get that roast.
LeRoy's legacy will live on through his wife, Chery Yanke; one son, Christopher (Dana); daughters, Nicholle, Vanessa (Kenny) and the one they finally got it right with, Tara (Samuel); ten granddaughters, Bethanie, Skylen, Hailee, Madasyn, Brooklyn, Emaleigh, Jerleah, Amena, Awtum, and Everleigh; eight grandsons, Caleb, Ayden, Rhiley, Braden, Daniel, Noah, Kegan, and Parker. He is also survived by sisters, Mary (Nick), Joellen (DuWayne), Grace (Bill), and Linda Lou; and brothers, Al (Joann), and James.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. There will be visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM at the funeral home.
