Margie Carole Burke, age 88, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away June 20, 2026. She was born on September 28, 1937 in Waco, Texas to the late Davis Cyclone and Fleeta Mae Collier.
James Edmund Burke, age 91, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away just two days later on June 22, 2026. He was born April 12, 1935 in Denison, Texas to the late James "Boots" and Jewel Burke.
Margie and James were united in marriage on May 2, 1958, and spent 68 wonderful years building a life centered on love, faith, family, and service. James proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 26 years of distinguished service with the rank of Major.
As a devoted military wife, Margie put her own educational pursuits on hold to support James throughout his Air Force career and the many moves that came with military life. She however, returned to school and earned her Master's Degree in Counseling, dedicating herself to helping others through her compassion, wisdom, and encouragement.
Along with their parents, they are preceded in death by Margie's brother, Davis Lee Collier; and son-in-law, Harry Alan Wheeler.
They are survived by their children, Dawn Rae Wheeler and Michael (Rebecca) Burke; grandchildren, Alan (Erica) Wheeler, Jason (Megan) Wheeler, and Lauren Burke; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, MJ, Tierney, and Weston; Margie's sister, Lana Cresse; and James's brother, Jackie Don "JD".
There will be a funeral service celebrating the lives of both Margie and James at 9:30a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. They will be laid to rest together at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
There will be visitation from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Richard Houk and the caregivers of Visiting Angels for their compassionate care, kindness, and support.
