Marie Haggard, beloved wife and mother passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her home. She was 94. Mrs. Haggard was born in Scott on October 22, 1930 and graduated from Scott High School. At the age of 14, she occasionally drove a school bus for the Scott school district. She attended the Arkansas State Teachers College and spent her career as an insurance underwriter. She participated in many mission trips to the southwestern United States and was a faithful member of Summers Avenue Church of Christ. Family was very important to Mrs. Haggard. Even during her years working in the insurance industry, she came home every night to prepare a home cooked meal for her family. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed traveling with her husband Travis. They motor homed from Mexico to the Arctic Circle, Alaska, Canada and much of the lower 48 states. They also traveled to Hawaii, the Panama Canal, St. Thomas and 15 European countries.
Mrs. Haggard was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. and Cecil Mae Tyler Hickman and brothers, James Hickman and Gerald Hickman (Mary). She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Travis A. Haggard; children, Deane Allinson (Mary Farmer), Janace Harding and Jann Schuetzle; grandchildren, Jacob Allinson, Jeff Allinson (Jordan) and Parker Schuetzle (Lia); great grandchildren, Nora Allinson, Simon Allinson, Julian Webb and Ayla Schuetzle as well as sister-in-law, Maxine Rauch and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, the doctors and staff of CARTI at Springhill, and her special friend and helper, Marie Seaton.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
