Mars Edward Cherry Jr, 78, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2025. Mars was born on January 18,1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Mars E Cherry, Sr and Ruthie M. Cherry.  Mars was baptized at an early age at Mt. Araratt Baptist Church, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and sisters, Carolyn Cherry Thomas and Maxine Cherry Pace.

He was employed at Hercules Chemical Company, Redmond Motors and Super-wood a subsidiary of Georgia Pacific. Mars retired in 2000.

Mars enjoyed working with his hands outside cutting the lawn, hunting and fishing. After retirement he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and got a joy out of all his family coming and picking fresh vegetables. Mars enjoyed picking up pecans from the many pecan trees around the home and always tinkering on automobiles and lawnmowers.  Mars loved and was loved by his family and known for his generosity and booming laugh.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Clifford Cherry and wife Kristina; nieces and nephews, Kevin Thomas, Michelle Thomas Gandy and husband Jaye, Patrick Thomas and wife Darlene, Tracy Pace, Eric Pace and wife Tiffeny, Neshundra Cherry, and Clifford L. Cherry; and cousin Denise Yates. He is also survived by an aunt, host of uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Patrick Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Tracy Pace, Eric Pace, Clifford L. Cherry and Jaye Gandy will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with Reverend Cleo Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Brooks Cemetery in North Little Rock. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m
