Martha Faulds
Elliot White
Feb 27, 1932 — Apr 4, 2025
Jacksonville
Martha (Mattie) Faulds Elliot White, a native of Hurlford, Scotland, was born on February 27, 1932, and passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2025. The daughter of a coal miner, Mattie possessed a natural Scottish brogue, which she refined through her mastery of elocution. She met the love of her life, Jimmie, while working as an airline ground hostess at Prestwick International Airport in Scotland. They shared a loving marriage of 64 years.
With courage and love, Mattie left her homeland to follow Jimmie on his various global assignments. During his service in Vietnam, she demonstrated extraordinary resilience, raising their young children in the United States, navigating a new culture and dialect with unwavering determination. Her life was defined by selfless sacrifice and profound love for her family.
Mattie is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie; her daughters, Sheryl Spieldenner (Frank) and Karen Wood; and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Davis (Whitney & Aubrey), Amanda Wood, and Scott Bollen (Hellen). She was also blessed with a large and loving extended family and many dear friends. She is now reunited in peace with her son, Jimmie II, and her grandson, Beau.
