MSgt William H. Ballard III, USAF (Ret), 80, of Jacksonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. He was born Tuesday, January 11, 1944 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late William H. Ballard II and Betty (Rife) Ballard. Wiliam graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia and attended Virginia Tech.  Mr. Ballard retired from the United States Air Force after more than twenty-two years of dedicated and faithful service. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam and traveled the world during his military career. He enjoyed telling his family and friends stories about his travels. He was a people person in every sense. He could carry on a conversation about anything with anyone. Mr. Ballard enjoyed his morning coffee group every morning at McDonald's. He also had a love of music of almost any kind. He collected more than one thousand records and had collected the top 100 every year since the 1950's. Mr. Ballard also had a love of automobiles and was a proud active member of the Central Arkansas Camaro Club. In addition to all of his other hobbies and interests, Mr. Ballard spent many years in the Boy Scouts with his sons, a tradition that was carried on from his own childhood.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Linda (Johnston) Ballard; sons, David Ballard (Brittney) of Cabot, Greg Ballard (Lina) of Springdale; grandchildren Mark, Matthew and Michael all of Springdale; siblings, Judy Daniels, Tammy Long and Dee Pigg all of North Carolina and Bob Long of West Virginia along with a host of extended family and dearly loved friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by a sister, Peachy Long.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2024 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N. J.P.
