MSgt. Ret. William Lyon, 97, of Cabot passed from this life on March 3, 2025. He was born February 25, 1928 in Tipton, Iowa to the late Charles and Percie (Simmons) Lyon. Mr. Lyon was a proud and loyal Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving more than twenty years before his retirement. He served tours of duty during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling but was always happiest spending time with his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda (Owen) Lyon; second wife, Ruby (Owens) Lyon; son, John Wesley Lyon, great great granddaughter, Sora Tyler and six siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Joyce (William) Curry of Cabot; grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Huett and Leslie Curry both of Jacksonville and John (Leslie) Curry of Ward. Other survivors include great grandchildren, Sara Carmical, Korey Grimes, Logan Curry, Zac Tyler, Tiffany (Jonah) Beavers, Eli Tyler and Tracy (James) Eppinette and great great grandchildren, Addison Eppinette and Charlotte Beavers along with a host of extended family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
