Ratana Obert, 79, of Sherwood departed this life January 16, 2023. She was born October 5, 1943 in Ubon, Thailand to the late Joom and Muang Prachumrux. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of forty-two years, George Obert Sr.; and her three brothers Jamnong, Manoon and Jamron Prachumrux.

A loving mother and homemaker, Ratana was known to be an exceptional cook often times preparing meals for others including her famous eggrolls, fried rice and shrimp in a blanket.  She will be lovingly remembered for her fierce love of her three boys and her adoration for her three grandchildren. Family brought Ratana the most joy, whether it was cheering them on at sporting events, taking family vacations or cooking on Sunday afternoons for family and friends.

She is survived by her three sons Norey (Pie) Obert of Southhaven, Mississippi, Jan (Kerri) Obert of North Little Rock, and George (Anita) Obert Jr. of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Drew Obert of Washington D.C., Emma Obert of Fayetteville, AR and C.J. Obert of North Little Rock; and three siblings, Manat (Nelek) Prachumrux of Suisun City, CA, Jamrat (Marayart) Prachumrux and Ratree (Somnuk) Wongsathien both of Bangkok, Thailand.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, with a memorial service to follow at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Ratana will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
