Richard Aaron Rice, 75, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was born December 14, 1948 in Winslow, Arizona to the late Aaron Rice and Jeanette Rice Dover. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Richard graduated from Winslow High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served as a fighting Seabee and worked as an equipment operator.  Richard retired from his last duty station as a Chief with 23 years of service at the presidential retreat Camp David. Following his retirement, Richard later worked for the National Forest Service in Sedona, Arizona.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.   Later in life, he became passionate about gardening and cooking.  He was always known for his pursuit of knowledge.  Richard was a kind-hearted, gentle spirit who never met a stranger.

Left to cherish Richard's memory are his wife, Vickie Rice; daughters, Christine Rice and Renee (Christian) Howey; grandson, Zachary Howey; and siblings, Nancy Hanno, Margaret (Stephen) Tolbert, Jennie Barta, and Darrel Rice.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.
