Rory Dale Smith, age 61, of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021.  He was born September 9, 1959 in Downey, California to the late E. Ray and Flora (Jones) Smith.  In addition to his parents, Rory was preceded in death by his step-son, Dillan Brockmeier and grandson, Braxtyn Alexander.

Rory was a classic, Christian man who was respectful, honest and kind, except for when he was messing with you because (in his words) "ornery-ness was his gift". He was an excellent driver that enjoyed driving anything from boats, to cars, to four wheelers-if it went fast, Rory loved it. Rory was a hard worker that always paid attention to the details. Organization was not his forte, but nevertheless, "buy, sell, and trade" was a motto he lived by every day. More than anything, Rory adored his children and grandchildren and loved every minute spent with them.

Survivors include his "Kelli girl", Kelli Lobley; children, Rory Dale Smith II, Myles (Jamie) Smith, Jessica RaLene Smith, Cassidy Nichole Smith and Heather Shea (Justin) Springer; brothers, Rodney "Rod" (Donna) Smith, Randy (Joyce) Smith and Reggie "Reg" Smith; 13 grandchildren who Rory adored and several extended family members and friends.
