Roy Michael “Mike” Sharp, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, went home to heaven on August 26, 2026, while surrounded by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Emma “Jean” Sharp; sister, Debbie Varnell; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Varnell and Duane Beck.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dureta “Dee” Sharp; daughters, Bethany (Sam) James and Katie (Alan) Johnston; grandchildren, Colton, Emma, Athan, Aslin, Asher, and Aven; brothers, Ron (Lynne) Sharp and Jeff (Kim) Sharp; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Mike served in the Army National Guard as a combat engineer and fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 1st Cavalry, 39th Brigade.

He was a devoted family man with a whole host of talents. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, making jokes, and telling stories about his many adventures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N. JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations of Gideon Bibles may be made in honor of Mike’s life.
