Roy R. Thacker, 88, of Jacksonville passed away February 7, 2023. He was born April 2, 1934 in Sutton, Kentucky to the late Charles and Katherine Thacker. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Biggans. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over twenty years, retiring as a TSgt. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed spending quality time with his family and travelling.

Those left to cherish the memories of Roy include his wife, Velma Thacker; his four children, Merrick (Paula) Thacker of Justin, Texas, Charles (Sherra Kay) Thacker of Sulphur, Louisiana, Robert (Stella) Thacker of Louisa, Kentucky, and Amy (Hurley) Bryant of Conway, Arkansas; siblings, Justina Blackburn of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Veta Moore of Louisa, Kentucky, and Olivia Gay (Don) Preece of Louisa, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be the evening prior, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023 at the funeral home. Roy will be laid to rest with military honors at Chapel Hill Memorial Park following the service.
