Steven Charles Hicks was born the son of Charles S. Hicks III and JoAnn Cummings Hicks February 2, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas and passed from this life into eternity with the Lord Wednesday April 12, 2023.

Steven, the middle of five children, was very smart, a gifted athlete, and a great artist. He grew up to serve in the United States Army and become a surgical nurse. He loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Atlanta Braves, and the beach. Steven had a heart of gold. He loved people, was a ladies' man, and would do anything to help others.

Steven loved life, yet he struggled with addictions that he fought to overcome. He appreciated and benefited from participating in Narcotics Anonymous. With the help of the Lord in his later years, knowing Jesus as his Lord and Savior, Steven was able to overcome. Steven is loved and missed by his family and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his wife Meredith Gloer Hicks; father, Charles S. Hicks III; brother, Terry Pemberton Hicks; and grandson, Isaiah Shepard. He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Cummings Hicks of Jacksonville; three brothers, Gary Hicks of Jacksonville, Stan Hicks and Chris Hicks of Senath, Missouri; daughter, Stephanie Shepard of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Layla and Stella; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will one hour prior to the service, 1:00 p.m., at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
