Obituary

Sybil Irene Miller Capps Branscum, 82, of Jacksonville, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was born on Sunday, June 29, 1941 in Scott, Arkansas. She was the sixth of eight children born to the late A.J. and Cora Esther Harmon Miller. Her family had a hard life but it was filled with love. Her dad was a little country preacher and she learned about God's love at an early age. She accepted Jesus as her savior and she never looked back.

In 1963, Sybil married Shelby Capps and together they started a successful furniture business. From there they went straight into the real estate business at a time when it was considered a man's field. Through the next few years, she grew the company into a very successful office and she won many awards over the years.

Sybil loved people and she loved the Lord. She was always ready to witness to anyone who would listen. She always started by saying "Do you know how much God loves you?" Sybil has always been a faithful church member no matter where she lived and she loved to sing in the choir. Sybil was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gid Branscum; her daughter, Sabrina Mason and her siblings, Fred Miller, LaVerne Howell, Carlos Miller, Eva Belew, Laura Norman and Evelyn Smith.

Sybil is survived by her son Stephen Capps and his wife, Shelly, son, Ron Branscum and his wife Deedre, son, Scott Branscum and his wife, Shawna; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Norman Miller and his wife, Diane, her very dear friend, Coy Davis and a host of other family and friends.
