Velma Ruth Thacker, 86, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home June 26, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born April 24, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Charlie and Amy Lacombe. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thacker; and brother, Charles Lacombe.

She is survived by her children, Merrick (Paula) Thacker of Justin, Texas, Charles (Sherra Kay) Thacker of Sulphur, Louisiana, Robert Thacker of Louisa, Kentucky, and Amy (Hurley) Bryant of Conway, Arkansas; brother, Lloyd (Jenny) Lacombe of Deville, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Velma loved to work in her yard when she was able, cook and travel to visit family. She loved her Cajun music, reading books, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
