Venita Eve, 92, of Jacksonville, died peacefully at her memory care facility on January 28. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert R Eve and her children, Beverly Kay Brooks and David R Eve, as well as her six brothers and sisters. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Nita was active in Eastern Star, having served through all the local offices and several of the Arkansas Grand Chapter offices, most recently as Grand Chaplain.  She loved traveling throughout the state, visiting the local chapters with the Grand Chapter officers, and meeting with the local members, many of whom she had known for years.

Jacksonville First United Methodist Church was her home church. You could find her there every Sunday and participating in programs throughout her life in Jacksonville.  When her health status moved her to Little Rock, her home church became Highland Valley United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Bob, was career military with the US Army so they moved around the world to accommodate his postings in Europe and in the US.  They retired to Jacksonville at his retirement and she took up employment with Civil Service, as he went on to manage the Commissary at the Little Rock Air Force Base.

They loved to travel and discovered Elder Hostels, which combined new destinations with tempting education opportunities and off they went – to China, to Warm Springs, Georgia, to New Zealand and Australia, to name just a few. They learned about bees, crop rotation, FDR, Gone With the Wind, Ancestry…  it didn't matter. Meeting new people, seeing new places and learning something new were a tonic for them.

Though she never attended college, Nita took advantage of all the training opportunities that came her way and found that she had a particular talent for budgeting. This led to a late-in-life job change. She saw a job posted in Honolulu to do budgeting, applied and interviewed for it, and off they went to Hawaii for a couple of years while she worked doing budgets for the military hospitals in the Pacific Rim.

An avid Bridge player, Nita was in demand as a partner for Duplicate Bridge and was always looking to accumulate her points.  She loved games of any kind and taught her nieces and nephews to play Pinochle, Hearts, Spades, all kinds of Rummy games, and Rumicube.

A funeral service will be at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2026 at Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service begining at 12:00p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a private burial at Rest Hells Memorial Park.
