Virginia Mae (Bascue) Claxton, 87, of Jacksonville passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023. She was born May 12, 1936 in England to the late Clarence Cleveland and Julie Virginia Lemons Bascue. Mrs. Claxton was a wonderful, strong Christian woman, spouse, homemaker and mother. She enjoyed yardwork and the simple things in life. She was a great seamstress and singer with a servant's heart. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Claxton was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Claxton; son, Larry Yandell; granddaughter, Jennifer Rose and siblings, Brenda Bryant, Betty Bottoms, Lonnie, C.J. and Bobby Bascue.

Mrs. Claxton is survived by her children, Angela Yandell Rogers (Bill) of Sherwood, Shirley Rose Belville (Paul) of Austin and Charles Rose of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Joseph Bumpous, Cassandra Makowski (D.J.), Ashley Cole (David), Lawayne Holt, Stephanie Holt (Curt), Hannah McBee (Danny) and Tonya Rose (Hannah Kernstine); great grandchildren, Dexter Cole, Archer Cole, Olivia Makowski, Logan Makowski, Rayne Holt, Haven Hutchins, Bentley Hutchins and Gracie Mae McBee and siblings, Johnny Bascue, Harold Bascue, Vera Bascue, Wanda Dillon, Kenneth Bascue and Loretta Carlock.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home with Brother Ben Spickes officiating. Burial will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
