Obituary

Msgt. William "Bill" Edward Engel, 89, of Jacksonville, passed away July 15, 2020. He was born in Greenwood, Arkansas to parents William and Pauline Engel on February 15, 1931.

Bill was a faithful Christian and loving husband and father. He was an Air Force veteran for 23 years, a nurse for the VA hospital for 20 years, and a Scout Leader for Boy Scouts of America for 50 years where he was awarded the Silver Beaver; the highest award given to adult leadership in the Boy Scouts. Bill was married to Dolores Engel from 1953 until her passing in June 1996. He married his second wife, Betty, in August 1997.  In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Engel.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Betty of Jacksonville, Arkansas; his children, Steve Engel of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Becky (Mike) Legg of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gene Gaddis of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Reba (Donnie) Danner of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Bill Engel, Jr. of Springdale, Arkansas, and Greg (Colleen) Engel of Tampa, Florida; his sister, Monta Ewing of Sun City, Arizona; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services immediately following at 11 a.m., both at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.  Bill will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Park after the service.  Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 501-982-2136.
