Deacon William Fauntleroy, 85, of Jacksonville finished his Earthly journey November 16, 2023, at 6:06 p.m. with his wife by his side. He was born July 15, 1938 to the late Edward Sr. and Dorothy Fauntleroy in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Jr., Dolores, Richard, and Roland. At an early age, William accepted Christ as his savior. With his strong faith, he served as deacon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist church faithfully until his passing.
William completed his basic training in the United States Marine Corps. His desire to fly would lead him to a long successful career in the United States Air Force. During his tenure he held many titles including Flight Engineer Superintendent, Flight Engineer Technician, Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician and Flight Engineer Instructor (Saudi Arabia). His military career spanned over 27 years of service. He was brilliant at his craft and flew all over the world repairing aircrafts and instructing airmen on how to fly. He retired as a Sr. Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
On August 15, 1967, he married the love of his life, Jannette Fauntleroy. To their union one daughter was born, Zaquette Fauntleroy-Everett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty-six years Jannette; daughter, Zaquette Fauntleroy-Everett and her husband, Gregory Everett; step-son, Antony Hatcher; grandchildren, Zandra Geddis, Terrance Hatcher and his wife, Tracy, and Terrod Hatcher and his wife, Nicole; six great-grandchildren, Jace, Zuri, Malik, Miles, Zari, and Alana; siblings, Constance Fauntleroy, Janet Glover, Eugenia Allen, Richard Fauntleroy and Michael Fauntleroy; along with a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2023 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. William will be laid to rest with full military honors following the service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be the evening prior, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the church.
